Alan Kohutek, Marcus High School Teacher of the Year

Here is why the faculty and students at Marcus feel Alan Kohutek is so deserving:

He is a natural in the classroom.  He is well-spoken and very professional, and he is also incredibly innovative.  He designs every lesson with his students’ best interests in mind, and he is willing to work long hours in order to teach his subject more effectively.  He has taken-on a leadership role in the Social Studies department.  He also serves on curriculum writing committees and he attends professional workshops.  He even led a workshop at our own summer in-service which got rave reviews.  He cares about his students and builds solid relationships with each of them, and many students consider Mr. K to be their favorite teacher.

Alan is a positive force in the department.  He’s always willing to share ideas and lessons with his fellow geography teachers.  His innovative ideas and enthusiasm benefit both students and teachers alike. Mr. Kohutek is in his 3rd year at Marcus and teaches Pre-AP World Geography (9th Grade).  Kohutek and his wife of nine years, Judy, who teaches at Central Elementary School, lives in Flower Mound.  They have a daughter, Kara, who is in 5th grade, and a son, Kevin, who is in Kindergarten. Kohutek says, “I’m very grateful to be recognized as “MHS Teacher of the Month.”  I am also fortunate to be a part of the learning community here at Marcus HS.  Teachers, Administrators, students, parents, and other staff have dedicated themselves towards creating an outstanding, high-achieving learning environment at this campus and across Lewisville ISD.  There are many teachers, here at MHS, that deserve this kind of recognition and my professional success has been possible through their support.”
