I want to take a quick moment and share with you a very special day that I experienced this week in Austin. On Wednesday, July 18, my good friend Phil Wilson was sworn in as Texas’ 106th Secretary of State, and I was honored to serve as Master of Ceremonies.
The primary duties of the Texas Secretary of State are to oversee fair elections, foster strategic relationships between Texas and the international community, and promote a strong and vibrant Texas economy by leading economic development efforts. No one is better suited for these tasks than Secretary Wilson.
I have had the honor in life of knowing Phil for many years and have seen first-hand his devotion to this state and dedication in getting the job done. Secretary Wilson is a man of unwavering character filled with inner strength and courage based on his deep faith, love of his family and friends, and passion for serving his fellow citizens. He represents a new generation of emerging leaders stepping forward to serve our great state.
It was an honor to speak on behalf of Secretary Wilson and a true privilege to share the dais with him as he took the oath of office. This was also a great opportunity for Denton County to be front and center with our state’s Chief Officer for Economic Development. I look forward to working with Secretary Wilson to promote jobs, growth and prosperity for our communities.
