When you look at the achievements of the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce for 2008, you know it took leadership to accomplish so much. That leadership came from all members of the Chamber, but the chairman for that year, Lori Walker, deserves tremendous credit. When the new Chairman, Bill Collins, spoke at the Chamber’s Awards and Presentations Dinner last week, he put it best: “I want to thank Lori Walker for her unwavering commitment in her attention to detail, positive attitude and focus that helped us achieve the strong, positive results in 2008. We want to thank you, Lori, because we know how much time this position takes away from your family.” Lori’s husband, Neal, was also applauded for his support of his wife, as she dedicated so much time to expanding business in the area.

Mr. and Mrs. Walker have 2 children, Hayden, an eighth grader at Lamar Middle School and Truett, a first grader at Prairie Elementary. Lori and Neal grew up together in Nocona, Texas. Lori went to Austin College in Sherman, graduating with a BA in Communication Arts. In addition to her stint as Chairman of the Chamber last year, she continues to be a member of the Chamber board. Additionally, she was the Co-chair of Fiesta Flower Mound last year and the chair of the event for the prior 4 years. Other civic duties include being a member of the Flower Mound Leadership Alumni Class or 2008-2009; Board member of Lewisville ISD Education Foundation (serving as the 2009 LEF Gala Chair); Board member of Lamar Middle School PTA (past President 2006-2008);Head Room Mom in son Truett’s first grade class and member of Trietsch United Memorial Church, just to name a few.

Currently, Lori works for Denton County Commissioner Andy Eads. Prior to that, she worked for Congressman Tom DeLay and Senator Jane Nelson. With all the time she puts into her community, she still finds plenty of time to be with her family. “Our kids are our life!” she says proudly. Both of her boys play baseball, basketball and football. “We live at the ball fields and courts!” she adds. With people like Lori Walker applying her time, talent and experience for the betterment of the community, we are fortunate indeed in knowing that the future of this area is in good hands.
